The installation consists of 720 solar panels and 3 inverters, all sourced from our own LEDVANCE stock. The system is designed to achieve an impressive average self-consumption rate of over 90% — meaning that 90% of the electricity produced will be used directly on site. This will cover around 20% of the site’s annual electricity consumption.

THE CHALLENGE

A reliable, sustainable supply of climate-friendly energy is fundamental to any business's success. Against this backdrop, LEDVANCE wanted to reduce its dependence on the electricity grid for its French head office in Molsheim, reduce the site's carbon footprint by installing photovoltaic systems in a field next to the warehouse building. In addition, the system was to serve as a live demonstration area for customers to promote the expansion of LEDVANCE's photovoltaic offering.

THE SOLUTION

LEDVANCE reinforces its commitment to sustainable energy by installing a 400 kWp photovoltaic plant at its Molsheim site on Route Ecospace. The system, comprising 720 modules and three LEDVANCE inverters, achieves an average self-consumption rate of over 90%, covering around 20% of the site’s annual electricity needs. An expansion of the power plant is already under consideration, including the integration of our battery storage solutions to further maximize self-consumption and showcase our industrial expertise to customers.

BENEFITS

LEDVANCE benefits in several ways from the photovoltaic system installed in Molsheim. Different types of panels were integrated for demonstration purposes during the training sessions, allowing to showcase a broad range of technologies. The system covers around 20% of the site’s annual electricity consumption, significantly reducing dependence on the public grid. On sunny days, solar energy can even meet nearly the entire electricity demand.

Using renewable, locally generated power also improves LEDVANCE’s carbon footprint. In addition, the robust design of the modules and product warranties of up to 25 years ensure long-term reliability and low maintenance costs. The installation further enables LEDVANCE to demonstrate its photovoltaic portfolio, train customers directly on site, gather immediate feedback from installers, and position itself as a one-stop partner for sustainable energy solutions across residential, commercial, and utility sectors.

Our solar installation perfectly aligns with our sustainability goals. It’s self-financing, profitable from year one, and soon to include EV charging. Beyond energy, it serves as a European training hub, giving us valuable market insights to refine our marketing and customer approach.
